Varis Brasla

Valmiera theatre director and previous chief director Varis Brasla is born on April 25, 1939. His father - actor and director Zanis Brasla, mother - assistant director Valija Brasla. Graduated from Institute of Theatre, music and cinematography at Leningrad, Russia (1962), perfected his knowledge in Moscow. Has worked in Riga Film Studio.

Varis Brasla is very prolific director both in fields of theatre and cinema and has shot more then 15 movies besides about 20 performances staged in Valmiera theatre and performances other where. Varis Brasla has been awarded both in Latvia and abroad and is very well known because of his performances and movies for youth and children. In his works he appreciates humanity and seeking for ethical ideals.
